1. Payscale:
The scale of pay of Rs 35,400 in level 9, cell-1 as per the pay matrix provided under Rule-3 of ORSP, 2017 corresponding to pre-revised scale of pay of Rs 9,3000/Rs 34,800/carrying a Grade Pay of Rs 4200, with usual Dearness and other allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.

Odisha Public Service Commission has introduced 500 vacancies, the vacancies are distributed as per the category of the candidates. Further, the reservation of Ex-Serviceman, PWD, Sportsman are provided here as well. The vacancy distribution is provided here as per category and reservation.
NOTE: Out of the total 500 vacancies mentioned above, the reservation of vacancies in respect of sportsperson, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities can be checked in the official notification (link given below).
3. Eligibility
The candidates who want to participate in the recruitment should meet the eligibility criteria norms set by the Commission.
i. Age:
Age Limit (as on Jan 1, 2018)
Maximum: 32 Years
Minimum: 21 Years
Note: Age relaxation as per the commission can opt for belonging candidates.
ii. Educational Qualification: The candidates must have completed the graduation (a Bachelor’s Degree) in any discipline can apply.
iii. Knowledge of Odia Language: The candidates must have studied Odia in Middle school or in 10th or till 08th.
iv. NOC by Government Servant: The candidates who are working under government sector have to produce the No Objection Certificate in written form, form their Head of the Department.
4. Examination fee:
• OPSC has decided Rs. 300/- as application/Examination fee for ASO Recruitment.
• The application fee is NIL for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and PWD (only candidates of Odisha).
Note: The application fee is Non-refundable.
5. Mode of selection:
The selection process of Assistant Selection Officer is of the following two successive stages:
i. written examination.
ii. skill test.
Note: The Written examination is of 400 marks, where the candidates have to face the deduction of marks on each wrong answer. While the Skill test is only qualifying. The candidates have to just qualify for the exam.
The commission shall be competent to fix up the minimum qualifying marks for written examination. However, the merit list will be depended on only written examination marks.

The written Examination will be held at different centres at 33 Zones of the States as mentioned below:-

7. Certificates/Documents to be attached:
- HSC or equivalent certificate in support of declaration of age issued by the concerned board/Council.
- Intermediate/+2 examination certificate issued by concerned board /Council.
- Degree certificate issued by a recognised University.
- Two recent passport size photographs (unsigned and unattested) which have been uploaded with the online application form.
- OPSC copy of Challan showing payment of examination fee wherever applicable.
- Certificate of character from the principal/Proctor/Dean or professor in charge of a department of the teaching of the college or university in which he/she last studied.
- Caste certificate by birth in support of claim as SC / ST / S E B C where applicable (please see the official notification for more details).
- Aadhaar Card.
- Required Odia pass certificate from Board of Secondary Education Odisha indicating Odia as a language subject equivalent to M E School standard or a certificate from the principal/head of the school recognition Granted by Director of Secondary Education Government of Odisha indicating that the candidate has passed Odia in ME standard wherever applicable
- Discharge certificate issued by the commanding officer of the unit last served. ex-servicemen must submit an affidavit undertaking that he has not been appointed against any civil post after retirement from Military Service wherever applicable.
- identity card of sportsperson issued by the director of sports Odisha wherever applicable.
- disability certificate (indicating percentage of permanent disability) issued by concern medical board wherever applicable.
- if a candidate claim to possess qualification equivalent to the prescribed qualification the rule/authority (with number and date) under which it is so treated, must be furnished with the application form.
Note-1: candidate claiming to be becoming to SC ST SEBC category by birth are required to submit copy of the relevant caste certificate issued by competent authority in the prescribed form.candidate of SEBC category (other than Creamy layer) must submit copy of caste certificate issued by competent authority within the last 3 year from the date of advertisement in the prescribed form.
Note-2: degree certificate, caste certificate, Odia test pass certificate, Discharge Certificate of ex-servicemen, sports person certificate and disability certificate of a person with a disability (indicating the percentage of permanent disability) must have been issued by the competent authority within the last date fixed for receipt online application form as indicated above.
8. How to apply

9. Syllabus
The first round is an objective-type written exam consisting of three papers. The first paper is General Awareness (100 marks), the second paper for Reasoning and Mental Ability (100 marks), and the third paper for English and Odia Language (100 marks). The first two papers will be for the 90-minute duration and the paper 3 would be for the 120-minute duration.
The second phase of the exam is for candidates who clear the first phase and will involve Skill Test in Computer Application for 50 marks and for the 1-hour duration. Each wrong answer in both the rounds will attract 0.25 negative marks. Detailed syllabus for the exam is available in the official notification.
